This week's episode of The Exorcist splits the plot like a multiple personality at a carney show.

is clearly losing her mind at this point, hallucinating a family breakfast gone wrong and crashed by the Invisible Man. “This isn’t like you said it’d be,” she pleads with him. “Something’s not right here.” But he is unsympathetic and urges her to give in completely. That’s when we realize that she’s now tied down to a hospital bed on a psychiatric hold. Which is what happens when a bunch of people see you

The fact that her daughter’s state – if not the cause – is now public knowledge prompts Angela (Geena Davis) to call Father Tomas (Alfonso Herrera). Tomas rushes right to the hospital, but has to tell the family that the Church has told him not to take further action. But that doesn’t mean he’s giving up. “There is someone I can talk to,” he assures her. “Have faith in me.”
Meanwhile, Tomas’s partner in crime Father Marcus (Ben Daniels) has arrived looking for the first name on his list: Mother Bernadette (Deanna Dunagan). He watches the sisters deal with another apparently possessed man before being ushered out the next morning. That sends him to get stuck on the tour bus of Cherry and Lester Rego (Keira Naughton and Ken Marks), which is as close as this series is going to get to humor
